How Much Time are You Spending on Social Media?

Using social media for business is a powerful strategy for improving your online presence, and building your brand. There are many ways to make sure that your time spent on social media is productive. Start blocking time out for tasks to complete within your social strategy, including dedicating time for commenting/liking, brand maintenance, and outreach.

Avoiding Aimless Scrolling:

Consider how you spend your time on social media. How often are you interacting with past clients and friends? As you scroll through, be sure to connect with the people you know. When you see something you like, or maybe someone’s exciting news, be sure to leave a comment on the post. This will serve as a reminder that you are consistently there for them. Don’t just aimlessly waste time scrolling, have a strategy. Be decisive with who you are engaging with, and be sure to block time out for certain activities that you find important.

Maintaining Your Brand’s Image:

Everything you post and share online represents your brand. Be sure to take a step back and look at your social presence as a whole. Does it portray the message that you intended? Being helpful, friendly, and responsive are all important factors for sending strong customer service messages. Monitor your brand’s voice and make sure that you aren’t at risk for coming across wrong or inconsiderate. Even your personal page should have a level of professionalism that is on par with your business.

Outreach is Key:

Making new connections and keeping in touch with old ones will strengthen your database and network.

Develop a discipline around sending direct messages to your sphere of influence. By checking in with people, you are staying top of mind, and maintaining your relationships. Find time to meet new people and go through your database to make sure you are connected to everyone in your network. The more you grow your network, the more people you can keep up with and share about your business.

By being mindful of your time, you can maximize your effectiveness. Having a good social strategy should include time management, as well as content strategies. The more productive you are, the better your online presence will reflect your brand. Invest in your network, and it will pay off over time. Building trust is one of the most important aspects of your social media strategy.
